Privacy and cookie policy

This is the privacy statement of LYSA Publishers / Deskey BV (henceforth “LYSA”). This statement informs you of the types of personal information we collect when you visit our website (www.lysapublishers.com) and how we use, store, protect and disclose that information. We are committed to your privacy and want to process and use your data safely and respectfully in order to offer the best service and experience possible.

All personal data is processed by LYSA in compliance with the European Regulation 2016/679 – Protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).

In this Privacy Policy, your “personal information” means information that could allow you to be identified. This typically includes information such as your name, username, address and other contact details.

Personal information kept by LYSA may be derived from different sources, including:
– Information that you give us directly, as we collect personal information from you directly, e.g., when you wish to publish your work with us, submitting a manuscript for publication; when we enter into a contractual relationship; when you register as a user on our website, sign up to receive our newsletter or other information; when you purchase a product from us.
– Information we collect automatically when you visit our website, using cookies: a cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as login information (so-called “first-party cookies”); these cookies are necessary for the website to function and they are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services from us, such as logging in or filling in online forms.

Where we collect personal information for a specific purpose, we will keep it no longer than is necessary to fulfil that purpose and within the context for which we collected the data, unless we have to keep it for legitimate business or legal reasons.

We take all reasonable precautions to process your data in a safe way from unauthorised access, use or publication. As a general rule, we do not share your personal information with anyone outside of LYSA. We never pass on anyone’s details to third parties for commercial purposes. We only share your personal data with people providing services to LYSA if this is necessary to provide the service in question – such as people assisting us in our professional tasks and our editorial or marketing activities, including IT-service providers, payment service providers and delivery companies shipping a product that you have ordered from us – or when we are legally obliged to do so, e.g., when it is required by legislation or a court order, yet complying with EU privacy regulations at all times.

If you wish to receive the LYSA newsletter announcing new publications, please opt in by ticking the relevant box when registering. You can unsubscribe anytime. Any direct marketing communications sent by LYSA will provide you with the information necessary to opt out.

When you purchase our products through our web shop, the processing of all payments is handled by Mollie, via its secure platform, which is subject to its own privacy policy: www.mollie.com/en/cookies.

You can exercise your rights to access, rectify, erase, object to, and/or restrict the processing of personal data at any time and free of charge. You have, e.g., the right to tell us if you do not want to be contacted in the future by us; if you would like a copy of the personal information we hold about you; if you would like us to correct, update or delete your personal information in our records; if you wish to report any misuse of your personal information. To assist us in dealing properly with your request, please provide your full name and contact details.
