Giacomo Ventura is a researcher in Italian Literature at the University of Bologna. His research focuses on Humanism in Bologna, particularly on Antonio Urceo Codro, whose works he has edited and translated. He is currently working (with D. Brancato and A. Capirossi) on editions of Benedetto Varchi’s Storia fiorentina and Ulisse Aldrovandi’s Historia monstrorum. His research interests include emblem literature, the relationship between philology and science, the reception of Plinian and Vitruvian vocabulary in the Renaissance, and the teaching of Italian literature.
