Sam Urlings studied Latin and English Literature at KU Leuven, obtaining his master’s degree in 2018 with a thesis on “confessionalism” in the poetry of Sylvia Plath. That same year, he started as a PhD student, aiming to consider the role of Augustine’s De civitate Dei in the genesis of Italian humanism and his reception in the oeuvre of Florentine chancellor Coluccio Salutati (1331-1406).
