Florian Schaffenrath

Florian Schaffenrath studied Latin and Greek at the Universities of Heidelberg, Innsbruck, and Siena. For his PhD, he edited Ubertino Carrara’s epic poem Columbus (Rome 1715); in 2014, he completed his Habilitation on Cicero’s Philippics. He is Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Innsbruck, where he served as the director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies from 2014 to 2024. He has published extensively on Neo-Latin epic poetry.
